Like anything you love, you eventually run out of it because you use it. Even though I dilute it. As a result I found myself restocking on Frankincense and Thieves essential oil, which makes writing this blog post easy peasy. I’ll just send you to articles previously written about these two therapeutic oils.

And those three clear bottles in the background? Thieves hand sanitizer . . . because sometimes I forget to bring the kitchen sink with me when we go to Costco, and I need to clean the kids hands before they eat the snacks.

Carrot Seed Essential Oil
Now Carrot seed oil was kind of a wild card this month. I threw it in because of the price point and because I didn’t have it (thank you handy inventory sheet).
Surprisingly this oil is NOT from that orange woody vegetable that grows underground! It comes from the Apiaceae or Umbelliferae family . . . AKA parsley family (remember that Latin is IMPORTANT!). This family typically has the characteristics of a hollow stem and being highly aromatic. (I just dabbed a bit on my nose to “experience” Carrot Seed as I write – and I’m REALLY liking this smell. It reminds me of when my mom would get dressed up and go out with my dad when I was a kid.)
You might also recognize this family of plants if you are familiar with Queen Anne’s Lace, anise, caraway, coriander, chervil, cumin, dill, fennel, lovage and parsnip.
To obtain the oil, the dried seeds are steam distilled.
It’s Carminative
Carrot Seed is carminative.
You might ask what the spank carminative means. Well, it’s an fancy way of saying that if you have gas or flatulence issues caused by indigestion, you might very well benefit from this oil. In a nutshell, carrot seed essential oil can help prevent the formation of gas in your intestines and/or help eliminate said flatulence (love that word!) in an expedited manner. {Ahem, is it getting hot in here?)

Which Melaleuca?
That is a good question.
Young Living carries three types of tea tree oil or melaleuca . . . and I think this deserves a separate discussion or blog post.
Additionally, the third bottle of melaleuca is in my daughter’s room – and she is sleeping. Which I find more important right now than telling myself about what each type of melaleuca does.
They ALL smell different, though. VERY different.
